Gala - Malawi

The investment in Gala was completed in 2021 and is managed under the Ulimi Fund - Old Mutual Malawi.

 

This investment forms part of a vision to build a fully integrated player in the global macadamia nut value chain from nursery to market, with a focus on social inclusion and environmental sustainability.  

 

Gala has planted 2,050 ha of macadamia trees over its 12 estates, making it one of the largest macadamia projects in the world by planted area. Over 1,500 people are employed by the farm, and the orchards are supplemented by large nurseries, high-tech irrigation systems, a business and administration hub, dehusking facility, storage & logistics facilities, and an on-site laboratory.
